"Drew was instrumental to my success on the LSAT and confidence going into my first year of law school—my biggest mistake was not reaching out to him sooner! Drew is the exemplar of what a tutor and pre-law coach should be; he took ample time to explain (and patiently explain again) concepts in ways that made sense to me, often reducing the LSAT’s complicated questions into straightforward logic. No one knows the test better than Drew, and no one is more willing to graciously devote their time to ensure your success. Drew’s encouragement, guidance, and honest feedback regarding the LSAT and the law school application process were tailored to my professional goals and personal aspirations. While Drew is dedicated to helping each of his students work to their highest potential, he also ensures that they remain true to themselves, authentic, and grounded throughout the entire admissions process. Although the LSAT can often be a defeating process, Drew’s enthusiasm and positive energy is contagious, and I looked forward to every opportunity I got to work with him. I cannot recommend Drew’s services highly enough—I have come away with a competitive LSAT score, foundational knowledge that has carried me through my first year of law school, and a lifelong friend.” (Emily, Texas Law)
"It is not an understatement to say that Drew is the only reason I was able to apply to some of the best law schools in America. Working with him I was able to raise my score by nearly 20 points. He truly took the time to get to know and help me as he tutored me in the LSAT, making it a personal experience. Drew is one of the kindest, most hardworking people I have ever met. His enthusiasm is contagious and helps you manage the pains of the LSAT. I couldn't recommend him higher." Harrison (Fordham Law)
"After a long break from studying the LSAT, Professor Thornley got me back on track and raise my score 6 points when I took the LSAT Flex in May 2020, with just a couple of tutor sessions! He was super proactive and always kindly asked if I needed any more explanations and help. Professor Thornley always made sure I truly understood the material before moving onto the next topic, and mainly helped improve my LR (which I was stuck in a rut with) by teaching in colloquial terms that made it much more engaging and easier to understand abstract topics and LSAT formulas. He cares about your wellbeing as well as your LSAT performance. Thank you so much, Professor!" Ally (Chicago Law)
"Being tutored by Drew enhanced my competitiveness as a law school applicant in every category. My LSAT score rose 11 points, my writing section was strong and convincing, and my personal statement became concise, powerful, and compelling. Drew truly cares about the success and wellbeing of every student he encounters. In my case, he even took time out of consecutive weekends to tutor me in person for several hours Saturday and Sunday. His commitment to the law and sharing it with others is incredibly apparent, and his motivation, dedication, and energy matches that of the people he tutors. Drew was even there for me in challenging personal times when I felt jaded and discouraged by the law school application process. If you are searching for a compassionate, intelligent, and effective source of guidance through your LSAT and law school application journey, Drew is beyond perfect for you." Carina (Univ. of Houston)
"Working with Drew was an immense help! He conducted several workshop sessions during a summer pre-law preparation program at my university, where he taught different game setups. This alone was already mind-blowing and helped me improve my performance on the games! Afterward, I had several private tutoring sessions with Drew, where he completely restored my confidence in working through the arguments. He also taught me so many more immensely helpful techniques for the reading and argument sections. Another thing that was very helpful during the sessions with Drew was that he always wanted to make sure it was tailored towards whatever I wanted to work on that day. He was always so prepared to work through many different problems from older tests and would ensure that everything was clear before moving on. With Drew’s help, I improved my diagnostic test score by 25 points and scored in the 85th percentile. Drew made me believe in myself again, and I encourage every pre-law student to work with him for all their law school needs!" Kaylee (UT-San Antonio)
"My experience studying and taking the LSAT would not have been the same if I had not worked with Drew. He is an amazing tutor that encouraged me and taught me to become a better test taker. With Drew's help I was able to raise my score by 10 points and get into law school with a scholarship. I would not have been able to do it without him. Drew was always available to answer questions and super easy to schedule a appointments with. Even when his weeks were booked with other clients and work, he always made time to fit me in. Every session was organized based on what I personally needed to improve on. His methods for tackling each section of the LSAT were easy to learn and apply with practice. After taking many courses and having other tutors, Drew's methods and teaching style is above the rest and I recommend him to anyone I know that is studying for the LSAT. I truly would not be where I am today without Drew's help and encouragement. He is a great teacher and person!" Kylie (Nova Southeastern Law)
"Before my first time taking the LSAT, I self-studied and took a brief LSAT course. I scored much lower than I anticipated, which was discouraging and even had me reconsidering career paths. I heard about Drew through a friend and was desperate for whatever help I could get. Our FaceTime sessions made me feel more confident and helped me think like Drew does. With Drew's tutoring, I got my score up 10 points, to the 85th percentile, and scored 100% on games. He also helped me with my personal statement and resume for applications. I didn't get denied from any of my schools and am going to my top choice with a huge scholarship. I truly believe that without Drew's help, I wouldn't be where I am today. Working with him is an investment in your future and you won't be disappointed. You rock, Drew!!" - Ali (UNC Law)
"As a finance major coming from a family without any legal background whatsoever, the initial prospect of attending law school was an overwhelming thought that caused me nothing but anxiety. To say that I didn’t know the first thing about the LSAT, applying to schools, or the admissions process couldn’t of been more of an understatement. If you are an undergraduate considering applying to law school and find yourself riddled with the same worries I found myself dealing with, this guy will put your mind at ease.Despite me only beginning my tutoring sessions with Drew during my senior year, considerably late to the game for most LSAT prep-courses, my score improved a full 10 points in the few short months I worked with Drew. Furthermore, the LG section went from being my lowest scoring portion of the test on my initial attempt, to being my highest scoring section on my first real LSAT, on which I only missed one question. During our sessions, Drew was extremely engaged and eager to help in anyway possible. He also is extremely personable, patient, and makes logical sense out of a test specifically designed to tie your brain in a knot. Aside from Drews phenomenal tutoring skills, he is one of the most genuine, caring, and helpful people I’ve come across in any academic setting whatsoever. Seeing you succeed truly matters to him, and there is nothing he won’t do to help bring out the best in you. Above all else, the most valuable things Drew will give you is the confidence in yourself to conquer this test, and the ability to begin to see law school as a real possibility for your future. I can honestly say I would not of pursued this profession without the clarity Drew provided me through all aspects of the process. When it comes to LSAT tutoring, Drew Thornley is your guy." Jake (SMU Law)
"I learned of Drew through a friend who was constantly raving about how he helped her get into law school. I was hesitant in my decision to apply for law school because I have never been a great standardized test-taker and I knew the LSAT was a key factor in a law school application. With Drew’s, help I have become a confident standardized test-taker and preformed better than I could have ever imagined if I had taken a public class or self-taught program. Drew’s method is so personalized and his demeanor is so positive and encouraging – he really took the time to understand what kind of a student I was, what my goals were, and what study practices worked best for me. He is incredibly dedicated to helping his students and that is clear from day one. Beyond test prep, he is a great mentor for any sort of law school related questions and is willing to help in any way he can, from editing personal statements to discussing different types of careers, to what to look for in schools. I am so lucky to have been recommended Drew and I will continue to recommend him to my pre-law friends, he really made my application experience a smooth and positive one!" Grace (Houston Law)
"Drew is a game changer in the world of LSAT and Law School admissions. I am extremely grateful I had the privilege of taking Drew’s Business Law course at UT. Not only did the course introduce me to Drew, but I finished the semester knowing I needed to attend law school. Drew transitioned from my professor to my law school mentor; he shaped me in to an LSAT warrior and guided me through the entire application process. If you ask any student Drew has helped, we will all say the same thing: Drew is kind, patient, attentive, and truly wants to see each of his students succeed. He will adapt his teaching style to each individual and make your weaknesses become your strengths. I could not complete the arguments LSAT section in the time allotted before Drew; on the day of the LSAT, I completed the sections with 5 minutes remaining. Drew has been my go-to person for any and all admissions related questions. He perfected my personal statement and résumé, prepped me for interviews, and is still only a text away when I need him. One of the best things about Drew is his ability to help his students maintain their individuality and stand out among the sea of other law school applicants. Thank you, Drew. And to anyone considering working with Drew, just do it. One consultation with him will change your life." Sarah (Denver Law)
“Starting on my path to law school, I was utterly helpless until I came across an email from Drew to my sorority advertising his LSAT and law school application prep. Responding to that email was one of my top 5 best decisions of my life thus far. Not only is he extremely smart and helpful, but he is also just a joy to talk to! I always looked forward to our video chat sessions, and I always left them smiling (which is not something I normally say after studying). He was always available over text for any questions and was super easy to schedule with for tutoring sessions. Anytime anyone tells me they are even thinking about law school, I immediately hand over Drew’s number and GUSH over how great he is and how much he helped me. I seriously can’t recommend Drew enough. Use him for LSAT/law school application prep and you won’t regret it." Allie (GW Law)
“Drew and I first crossed paths five years ago, when he spoke to incoming freshmen at Camp Texas (UT’s fish camp). Drew gave us tips as to how to be successful undergraduate students. He spoke with passion and in a way that was engaging, encouraging, and motivating. I remember the disappointment I felt once I realized I likely wouldn’t get to take any classes with Drew in my time at UT. Five short years later, we met again. After a lackluster performance on the December 2017 LSAT - despite months of torturous preparation - one of my friends suggested that I give Drew a call for help with my LSAT struggles. I knew the name sounded familiar but could not figure out why. After checking out prelawcoach.com I realized who Drew was and instantly recalled the profound impact he had on me as a young, naive college freshman. I was excited to reach out to him for help. My only mistake was not contacting Drew sooner. I begged Drew for help exactly 14 days before the February 2018 LSAT (pro tip: do not wait until the last second like I did). Drew was more than happy to set up a consultation and get to work. He made time to squeeze me into his busy schedule even though he was juggling other clients, teaching, his family, and more I’m sure. Drew is ridiculously accommodating! He offered to tutor me via FaceTime, phone call, or in person if we were ever near one another. Drew was game for getting a session in before the sun came up but was also chill with late evening sessions if that fit my schedule better. Following the consultation, Drew analyzed my December score report to pinpoint the problem areas. Drew is all about fully customizing the tutoring experience. We spent my first couple of sessions reviewing missed questions, looking for patterns, and figuring out which strategies work best for me. During other sessions, Drew helped me to refine my approach and focus my efforts in the right places. With Drew’s help, I was able to increase my score by 11 points! I remember calling Drew (way too late at night) after getting my score back and he shared in my excitement and celebration. Drew’s skill and dedication to his clients extend far beyond the knowledge he imparts in them. Drew takes a sincere interest in his clients and wants the best for them. He has checked in with me multiple times since I received my score. Drew has helped my navigate a lot of the nerve-wracking parts of the admissions cycle. He provided me with guidance regarding choosing schools to apply to, how to handle a lunch with professors, and how to negotiate scholarship offers. Drew’s engaging, encouraging, and motivating teaching style remains unchanged five years later. I am beyond thankful for Drew and the help he provided me. I am looking forward to my first year of law school and, thanks to Drew, will be attending my top choice!” - Garrett (Texas Law)
"Drew was the best tutor I’ve had to date. He went above and beyond in helping me learn more and calm down. It was nice to have a tutor you could tell actually cared how you did on the test. Calming down was the biggest issue. After I took a Kaplan class for 4 months, self studied, did the whole nine yards, the only thing that genuinely helped was our 4 tutor sessions." Alex (Baylor Law)
"I can’t thank Professor Thornley enough for all he has done for me. Although The University of Texas at Austin has over 50,000 students, he was well-known across the campus, and his classes were highly sought after. Due to my interest and recommendations from other students, I took his business law class during the spring of 2015. The material in this class could have easily become overwhelming and too complicated to understand. However, Professor Thornley did an amazing job of clearly explaining the topics and made me a strong believer in the use of flow charts to see how topics are connected. Not only did he do all he could to ensure our understanding in class, but he always made himself easily accessible outside of class. Professor Thornley was always willing to re-explain material and never made me feel subpar for the questions that I asked. He encouraged students to engage with the material and helped us arrive at the answer rather than just giving it to us, which I found to be very valuable. After taking most classes, students never see or speak to their professors again. This couldn’t be any further from the truth with Professor Thornley. In the fall of 2015, I began applying to law schools. He was again more than willing to help me throughout that process; he provided guidance and advice as I submitted application materials and as I chose a school. I struggled greatly with which law school to attend, and he took his own personal time to speak, FaceTime, and even text about my options and thoughts on each one. Even with a new child, he found time that worked with my schedule to speak with me. I just recently finished my first semester at Columbia Law School, and I attribute much of my happiness here to him. He helped me determine which school was best for me. In addition, I had the opportunity to attend his Law School Savvy course before starting school. There, I gained valuable skills, such as learning to read cases and writing briefs, and I believe it is essential for all law students to master these skills. Starting law school can be a very overwhelming process, and having this foundation helped to ease my worries and made my transition easier. During his course, he also brought in current law students who were able to answer questions and discuss their experiences. It was comforting to hear from students just a few years ahead of us. I can’t say enough about Professor Thornley and his passion for teaching. I have never had a professor that cares so deeply about his students’ success and happiness. His passion and devotion are inspirational, and I am thankful that he remains willing to support and guide me through the challenges of law school. Having the option to work with him is truly a gift, so definitely take it!" Shannon (Columbia Law)
"Bottom line: You can't go wrong with Drew Thornley for all of your law school needs! He is brilliant, encouraging, and tells it like it is. I have experience with Kaplan & Blueprint services - both pale in comparison to the kind of specialized attention and valuable guidance Drew provides his clients. If you want someone who will alleviate stress when it's at an all-time high and will help you successfully navigate the path to law school, then no question Drew is your guy! Trust me, choose him and never look back. You can rest easy knowing you are in the best hands possible!" - Mara (UT-Austin Law)
"Drew is my all-time favorite professor and one of my all-time favorite human beings. He is the definition of an academic mentor and a role model. Drew has a superior and active teaching style, guaranteed to make him different than any other mentor you will learn from-- his energy and charisma captivates the room in a second. I was lucky enough to have Drew as a Pre-Law coach before he started his business and I honestly don’t think I would have taken the leap and gone to Vanderbilt Law School without his support and guidance. Aside from being a kick-ass Business Law professor at UT during my undergrad (by the way, I still use the notes and flowcharts I made in that class in my law school courses), his most important quality is how much he cares about his students’ success inside and outside of the classroom. During my Law School application process, Drew was always checking on me, asking how applications were going, encouraging me to go on college visits, advising me on selecting the right school with the best scholarship money, and ultimately pushing me to go to Vandy, which is absolutely the PERFECT fit for me. As a clueless undergrad, Drew taught me the basics of civil procedure, business organizations, torts, contracts, and ethics, but most importantly, he showed me who I should inspire to be as a professional and as a genuinely good person. Drew is still a wonderful resource for me during my grueling 1L and we still keep in touch on a regular basis. I honestly cannot think of a more qualified Pre-Law coach, and if you don’t believe me, ask any other student who was fortunate enough to learn from him." - Jade (Vanderbilt Law)
"My experience in Drew’s Business Law class at the University of Texas was one of the main reasons I chose to go to law school. Drew has a unique way of breaking down some of the most complex subjects to make them simpler and more digestible for his students. He is incredibly generous with his time and has an infectiously positive attitude. Law school can be overwhelming at times, particularly during the first year. I can guarantee you that receiving advice and tutoring from Drew will put you in a much better position to be successful." - Kent (SMU Law)
"Drew Thornley is a superstar in the pre-law community. I was fortunate enough to know Drew in several capacities: as his student, research assistant, and an officer of the pre-law organization he advised at UT. Not only does he exceed all expectations of a professor, he's a mentor and friend as well. His office hours were always flooded with eager pre-law students, and he made time to help out every single one of us. His sincere passion for teaching and advising is evident in every conversation we have. When advising, he'll ask you all the right questions to get to the heart of who you are and why you're applying to law school (something that should absolutely shine in your applications). Most importantly, what sets Drew apart from the crowd is his character. If you're looking for a pre-law coach who will not only have your best interests in mind, but truly care about your success, you could not select a better person." - Micaela (Columbia Law)
"Professor Thornley is an exceptional professor who is able to simplify complicated material in a thoughtful and strategic way. Being prepared for the law school application process and law school itself is critical as the process becomes more competitive. His practical teaching style and commitment to professional and academic development is perfect for students who want to be successful in law school and the legal profession overall." - Geetika (Berkeley Law)
"Having taken Drew's undergraduate law course as well as his Law School Savvy prep course, I feel I am in a good position to explain what he can offer his students. I am currently a 3L at the University of Texas School of Law and will begin as an associate at Haynes and Boone upon graduation. I attribute much of my law school success to Drew. Being a graduate of Harvard Law himself, he knows the application process well and helped me navigate my own process. He put me in contact with former students who were at law schools I was interested in, which was very helpful in getting unique perspectives on what each school was looking for. Drew also set me up for success once I got to law school. He taught me how to efficiently outline, prepare for being called on in class and the substantive material itself. The first year of law school is a daunting task, but the exposure I got from Drew gave me an invaluable advantage over my fellow classmates. Most importantly, he genuinely takes an interest in his students. I am approaching my last semester of law school and know I can still reach out to him with any questions I have." - Travis (Texas Law)
"Drew’s approach to tackling the LSAT was a necessity to my success. After attending his analytical reasoning class, I not only discovered how to dissect questions on the LSAT, but I became aware that this strategy of thought transferred to my every day life and would without question help me once I begin law school. He could have easily spent his time instructing me on the mechanics of the test, but instead insisted on ensuring that I understood the strategies that would allow me to be navigate the intense language of the test. After Drew’s guidance, my least favorite portion of the test (logic games) had become my favorite, and my confidence during the LSAT administration was at an all time high, resulting in a score that was significantly higher than the scores I was getting before Drew’s class. But more important than Drew’s endless knowledge is his devotion to his students. Just days before the test he was able to meet with me to give me last minute tips and was the first to check in after the LSAT to see how it went. He takes pride in the success of his students and his authenticity is what makes him a phenomenal teacher, guide, and friend. I plan on contacting him now that I am hearing back from law schools, because his services do not just stop at LSAT training. His input on the entire process of legal education, from a student thinking about law school, to training for the LSAT, to choosing the right school make his services so valuable. No program guides a student this far. I owe so much to Drew for my achievements." - Max (UT-San Antonio)
"Growing up I always had an interest in becoming a lawyer and following in my grandfather’s footsteps, but it wasn’t until I was lucky enough to take Drew’s Business Law class as an undergrad at the University of Texas that I knew that I wanted to go to law school. Over the course of my time as a UT student, I can genuinely say that I never encountered a more passionate, caring, and brilliant professor. Not only was he able to explain many of the complex legal concepts in a unique manner that made them easily understandable, but also I honestly don’t know how I would have survived my first semester of law school without having taken Drew’s class. Going into my first semester at the University of Texas School of Law, I was extremely intimidated, knowing how challenging of a semester it was going to be, but Drew’s exceptional teaching style allowed me to better understand many of the concepts that were discussed in my several of my 1L classes. I believe that this familiarity with the material, which Drew’s class afforded me, offered me a priceless advantage over many of my peers. Although Drew is no longer at UT, I have been fortunate enough to keep in touch with him, and he has continued to provide me with the most genuine and insightful advice, not only throughout my law school application process, but also during my first semester at the University of Texas School of Law. Drew continues to be a fantastic resource, supportive mentor, and has even become a friend. His drive and commitment to his students and their success is inspiring and I believe sets him apart from any other professor, mentor, or pre-law coach out on the market today. If I can offer one piece of advice to all pre-law students that have any interest in attending law school: take advantage of the opportunity to learn from Drew Thornley. You will not find a more qualified, sincere, supportive person to help you start law school right" - Taylor (Texas Law)
"It would be an honor for you to meet Drew Thornley and have him as a law school mentor. I had the privilege of taking his Business Law class as an undergrad at the University of Texas at Austin. I recommended him to everybody I knew who could take his class. His way of teaching and mentorship were two of the many reasons why I decided to pursue law school. He is wise beyond his years regarding law school, applications, essays and resumes, and he can be a life mentor that truly cares about your success as a person. I remember asking him how to become unique, and his response was "be proactive", and it has definitely paid off. Drew genuinely cares about his students' success and still keeps in touch. His positive attitude and passion for helping others is contagious. As a law school student, I have learned not to guarantee anything, but I guarantee Drew will be worth it!" - Ale V. (St. Mary's Law)
"I first met Professor Thornley in 2013, while taking his Business Law course at the University of Texas. I was a junior and dealing with some early-onset senioritis. Professor Thornley very quickly snapped me out of my academic lull with his engaging teaching style and his general enthusiasm for the study of law. Fast forward nearly four years, I was sitting for the LSAT. Naturally, I approached Professor Thornley regarding a recommendation as he was one of the most influential educators I came across while studying at Texas. Prior to granting me a recommendation, we spent hours catching up, sharing thoughts on the study of law, and before I knew it, Professor Thornley was mentoring me through the application process. The application process can be incredibly stressful and daunting to face alone. At times I was down about my odds of getting into top schools. Professor Thornley was always there with words of encouragement. I also need to note that we were regularly in very different time zones. He truly went above and beyond to work with me! I must have gone through ten drafts of my personal statement with him and each time we uncovered new ways to leverage my strengths. As a result of my time working with Professor Thornley, I was accepted to eight schools and offered generous scholarships. You cannot go wrong working with Professor Thornley, I guarantee it!" - Sam (Syracuse Law)
